Membership Types
There are three types of CANNZ members: Affiliate, Practitioner and Mentor. The different Membership types in CANNZ allows for different types of professionals to be involved in a society that promotes safe practice, education and excellence in care.
Affiliate – This membership is for those who are closely involved in the appearance medicine and aesthetic injectables industry. Affiliate members are not cosmetic injectors but may be:
- Clinic Owners
- Clinic Managers
- Involved in the sale of equipment and products to clinics
Practitioner – This membership is for those who professionally deliver muscle relaxing injections and a variety of aesthetic cosmetic treatments which may include dermal fillers, lasers, prp, bio-stimulants, threads and emerging treatments. Aesthetic Practitioners must be suitably trained in the safe delivery of these treatments, have a Standing Order (if required), resuscitation certificate and have a current license or practicing certificate from their regulatory body. Cosmetic Injectors may be:
- Registered Nurses
- Nurse Practitioners
- Advanced paramedics
- Injector Pharmacists
- Oral hygienist qualified to inject
- Doctors
- Dermatologists
- Plastic Surgeons
Mentor – This membership is for those who may or may not deliver treatments. This membership is for cosmetic industry trainers, those who provide Standing orders and those who provide consultancy. These members are leaders in the Clinical Aesthetics field; they must be teachers or active in leading the profession.

Membership Requirements
Proof of Affiliate status:
- Clinic or business name
- Role in the clinic or business
- Years in the industry
Proof of Cosmetic Injector status:
- Clinic or business name
- Proof of training
- Years in the industry
- Treatments performed (list)
- Standing Order prescriber name (if required)
- Resuscitation certificate
- Practicing certificate or license
Proof of Mentor status:
- Clinic or business name
- Role as a mentor to the industry
- Specialty or area of focus
- Years in the industry
- Standing Order prescriber name (if required)
- Resuscitation certificate
- Practicing certificate or license
Membership Fee
$490 – Annually
Ongoing Membership Requirements
- Ascribe to the CANNZ code of conduct.
- A current practising certificate.
- A standing order doctor (if applicable).
- Proof of professional indemnity insurance to carry out aesthetic treatments.
- Proof of education and the ability to safely deliver treatments within their scope of practice.
- Current Core Competency of Resuscitation Certification (within the last two years).
- Proof of on-going education with a sum of 60 hours required (within the past three years).
- Participate in an audit every 5 years.
Auditing
Members will be randomly audited every five years. This audit looks at documentation, safety equipment, premises safety and scope of practice. Members often find this audit a beneficial experience as it allows another experienced practitioner to help them identify gaps in their processes or gives them ideas of where to improve.
Auditing Fee
$150 Practitioner Audit
This is an additional fee on top of the annual fee. The cost of the audit helps to reimburse the auditor for their time.
